Does chivalry still exist?

Does chivalry still exist?

In today society with shootings and killing, can we expect still to find gentlemen who treat women with respect and does chivalry still exist?

About 2 years ago I had the pleasure of meeting a Realtor called John Snowling. He inquired about my staging services. I spoke to John on the phone and proceeded to meet him at his clients home. This home was a Town home that had been occupied by his clients but they had moved into a seniors home and the Town home was now vacant and was not showing at its best. There were some areas of the home that were quite dated, for example the baby blue counter tops in the kitchen and the forest green ceramic tile that surrounded the Jacuzzi in the master bath.

Upon arriving at the home John was meticulously dressed, suit jacket, tie, nice leather shoes, and beautiful wool coat, when you are a home stager I guess you tend to have an eye for details and he was meticulously dressed . We discussed with the home owner some of the upgrades that would help to bring their home up to trend and they agreed to have some of the upgrades implemented by our trades, and then we would be offering them home staging upon completion of the renovations.

I was impressed at the professionalism John showed by allowing me to talk to his client and address  their needs. just Once completed we drove back to his office to discuss  another one of his clients that required a home consultation. What struck me the most about this gentleman was that driving to his clients home and  back to the office, he opened the car door each time, the office door, each time, would not allow me to walk behind him rather always extended his arm out to indicate that ladies were first. I thought WOW chivalry still exists and it is nice to see.  I was pretty impressed since I had not seen this for a LONG time!! He loved his family, John spoke so eloquently about his wife and he boasted about his daughter and how proud he was of her, she is a very talented artist, he was very proud showing me her displayed art on his office wall.

My husband  does have similar manners, we have two boys that I would hope that we are raising them to treat their girlfriends, wife’s and daughters one day with equal respect and acting as gentlemen always.

So you might guess that I was very saddened to hear about Johns passing, he was far too young, and I do say that although I am a very independent woman and believe in my equal rights in society, it was nice to see a true gentleman in action. Gone far to young…….
